The FTM-510D shares the core feature set of its predecessor, the successful FTM-500D, but is equipped with the new Super-DX and can incorporate ASP functionality by adding the optional SPU-1 (Audio Digital Signal Processor Unit) board.
Super-DX: When the received signal is weak, the RF amplifier sensitivity can be increased by activating the Super-DX function in analog FM/digital C4FM modes.
ASP (Add optional SPU-1 board - Audio Digital Signal Processor): When operating in analog FM mode, the ASP can also be activated in addition to the Super-DX. By digitally processing received FM audio to eliminate noise, the ASP ensures reliable and comfortable audio quality even on weak signals. This helps extend the communication range.
You can also select ASP AUTO mode. In this mode, the ASP is automatically activated when the transceiver detects weak signals in analog FM mode.
For intuitive and effortless operation, the FTM-510D's PMG and MAG functions have been enhanced.
PMG (Primary Memory Group): Up to 5 VFO frequencies or memory channels can be assigned to the PMG (Primary Memory Group) and monitored. The reception status of the PMG channels is displayed with an orange/gray bar graph on the PMG screen. When a signal disappears, the bar graph color changes from orange to gray in real time. With the FTM-510DE, the gray bar graphs (historical received signals) automatically fade out 2 seconds after a signal is lost. With the FTM-500DR, the gray bar graphs remain until manually reset by pressing the DIAL knob.
Other practical differences in the PMG function between the FTM-510DE and FTM-500DR are:
(PMG updated on the FTM-510DE)
AUTOMATIC mode
PMG channels are scanned and up to two channels with signals are received and listened to simultaneously.
Transmission is performed automatically on the received channel.
MANUAL mode
The PMG channel manually selected for transmission is always scanned and received. Other PMG channels are also scanned, and you can receive and listen to a channel with a signal at the same time.
The transmitting channel can be selected by turning the DIAL knob or by touching the bar graph of the desired channel on the PMG screen.

The PMG channel manually selected for transmission is always scanned and received. Other PMG channels are also scanned, and you can receive and listen to a channel with a signal at the same time.
The broadcast channel can be selected by turning the DIAL knob on the PMG display.
MANUAL mode
The PMG channel manually selected for transmission is always scanned and received. Other PMG channels are also scanned and displayed in a bar graph on the screen, but no audio is heard.
The broadcast channel can be selected by turning the DIAL knob on the PMG display.
